Hostos Hoops is officially on the radar going
two-for-two this past week as Men's Basketball player
Brandon Stolz and Womens' Basketball
Kristina Shcherban both won NJCAA Player of the Week.
Stolz, a Bronx-native, finished his sophomore season and stepped up as an on-court leader. He averaged 15.7 points per game, shot 54% from the field, grabbed 7.2 rebounds per game, dished out 2.4 assists per game, and snatched 2.3 steals per game. Hostos Men's Basketball completed their best season in six years with 19 wins and the #3 seed in the Region XV Tournament under first year Head Coach Dr. Jody King.
Kristina Shcherban, who comes to Hostos by way of Moscow, Russia, wrapped up a stellar season as a freshman. She was Top 15 in the nation in free throw shooting percentage (77%), fifth in Region XV in field goal percentage (44%), and third in Region XV in scoring (15.6 ppg). Shcherban, a 6-0 shooting threat, also scored 20 or more points
nine times this season. She helped the Lady Caimans reach the Region XV Tournament for the first time in four years.
